WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Demon Deacon cross country teams have the week off before returning to action Saturday, Oct., 14. The men's team will be competing in the Pre-National meet in Ames, Iowa. The women's squad, who is receiving votes in this week's polls, will run at the Pre-Regional meet in Greenville, S.C.
Wake Forest is coming off a solid showing last weekend. The women took their 'A' Team to the Iona Championships in Bronx, N.Y., on Saturday, Sept. 30, where the Deacs finished fourth out of 20 teams with 119 points. Sara Day led the Demon Deacons again, taking fourth overall with a time of 20:51 on the 5,000 Meter course at Van Cortland Park. The senior from Winston-Salem, N.C., has led Wake Forest in all three races that she has competed in this year. Meanwhile the women's 'B' Team, took fourth place out of 12 teams at the Greensboro Invitational in Greensboro, N.C.
The men's squad sent their 'B' Team to the Greensboro Invitational Saturday, Sept. 30 in Greensboro, N.C., also. The Demon Deacons placed fifth out of 15 teams with 147 points. Sean Nagomy led the Deacs, placing 12th overall with a time of 25:59 on the 8,000 Meter course at Stone Hagan Stone Park.
