Sept. 28, 2002 The Wake Forest womenˇ¦s cross country team placed second out of 30 teams in the Iona Meet of Champions this weekend in New York City. The 22nd-ranked Demon Deacons finished with a total of 67 points in the 6K race, five behind unranked Missouri. Anne Bersagel was the top Wake Forest finisher, completing the meet with a time of 21:11.7 for fifth place. Risa Rutland followed Bersagel in seventh with a time of 21:38.1. In eighth place was Jill Miller, who completed the course with a time of 21:44.0. Also competing for the Deacs include Danielle Coon, who finished with a time of 22:19.0 for 22nd place. Erin Franklin finished in 28th with a total time of 22:27.6 and Catherine Fortin-Major, who placed 35th, finished the race with a time of 22:45.0. Others representing Wake Forest include Adralyn Wendel, Courtney Lancashire, Becca Veenstra and Tess Fath. The Wake Forest women harriers will be back in action on Oct. 19, competing at pre-nationals in Terre Haute, IN.
