CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's cross country team won both of its dual matchups today at the UNC Challenge. Defeating North Carolina and Campbell, the Deacons earned three of the top five overall finishes. The men's team placed fourth in the meet.

Merry Placer, Anna Nosenko and Marley Burns all finished within one second of each other and placed second, third and fourth overall, respectively. Placer and Nosenko each recorded a time of 18:29, and Burns followed with an 18:30. Whitney Curry and Cindy Adams rounded out the top five Deacons with times of 19:41 and 20:14 in the 5-kilometer race.

Paul Loeser, the top runner for the men's team, placed 15th with a time of 28:21.22 in the 8-kilometer run. Ben Morrow, Nick Lepley, Zach Hines and Matt King also ran for the Deacons.

The men's and women's cross country teams will be back in action on Sept. 19 at the Virginia Tech Alumni Invitational in Blacksburg, Va. The meet is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.
