WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's and women's cross country teams left at 3:30 p.m. today to travel to Chapel Hill, N.C., for the University of North Carolina Challenge. Both teams are competing in their second meet of the season, with the women's squad coming off an impressive home victory at the Wake Forest Relays on Aug. 29.

The men's race is slated to begin at 8:30 a.m. with places being determined by invitational scoring. Campbell, NC A&T, North Carolina, Milligan and Wake Forest will all compete in the head-to-head scoring.

Following at 9:15 a.m., the women's meet will feature multiple duals. Wake Forest will be scoring against Campbell and North Carolina. The other women's squads at the Challenge will include Milligan and NC A&T.

The women's team returns to action recording four of the top five individual finishes at the Wake Forest Relays. Allie Kieffer earned the first 2008 ACC Women's Cross Country Performer of the Week recognition after finishing first in the combined 5-kilometer time (17:41), as well as the relay with teammate Merry Placer (35:40). Greg Billington was the top Deacon for the men's team at the Wake Forest Relays and earned a sixth-place overall finish with a combined 7-kilometer time of 22:53.
