Sept. 7, 2006

The Wake Forest men's and women's cross country teams will run Saturday in the Lou Onesty Invitational in Charlottesville, Va.

The men's race begins at 10:00 a.m. and the women's 10:45 a.m. at the Panorama Farms Course at the University of Virginia campus, which will also serve as site of the ACC Championships in October.

The Demon Deacons opened the 2006 season last Friday at the Wake Forest Relays. The Wake men's team finished with the time of 2:19:02, which put them in second place ahead of High Point and Duke and behind first-place Virginia Tech. Wake Forest's top finishers were Brad Wharton and Joel Conn, who finished in fourth place as a tandem.

Merry Placer and Caitlin Chrisman were the top finishers for the Wake's women team, coming in third place.
