WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest hosts Davidson, Duke, Elon and Virginia Tech in the cross country season opener Friday. The Wake Forest Relays will begin with the women's race at 5 p.m. at the Water Tower entrance to the cross country course on campus. The men's race will begin following the completion of the women's race.

The relay consists of teams of two from each school. Each participant runs two legs of 3.5k (for men) or 2.5k (for women), for a total team distance of 14k/10k. The first runner must cross the finish line of his/her first leg before the second runner may proceed with his/her first leg. The athletes do this in alternating order until the pair has run four legs.

The pair is then given a total team time which is ranked in order. Each team's top three pairs are counted toward the team's final score.

Times and results can be found at www.WakeForestSports.com after the completion of the relays.
