WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -

Three members of the Wake Forest men's and women's cross country teams were named to the 2006 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic  Teams as announced Thursday by Commissioner John D. Swofford.  Junior John Compton and seniors Erin Franklin and Michelle Sikes garnered the conference honors.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.

Sikes, also a recipient of the prestigious Rhodes Scholarship, was one of only five runners who earned the ACC academic honors in addition to finishing the season as a cross country All-American.

Compton and Franklin were each first-time honorees.
