EUGENE, Ore. - Wake Forest upset No. 17 Colorado State and No. 23 Brigham Young en route to a fourth-place finish at the Bill Dellinger Invitational, hosted by top-ranked Oregon. Redshirt junior Allie Kieffer was the first Deacon to cross the finish line at the Springfield Country Club 6-kilometer course with a time of 20:44.32. With a time of 21:31.25, freshman Anna Nosenko grabbed the second-place finish for the Deacons and 19th-overall. Dina Nosenko, Marley Burns and Merry Placer placed 30th, 31st and 32nd, respectively, to round out the scoring for Wake Forest. Oregon's Alex Kosinski and Melissa Grelli placed first and second overall, as Oregon won the meet with a team score of 23. Nicole Blood, the 2007 Bill Dellinger Invitational champion, placed fourth for the Ducks. Wake Forest outscored teams from Brigham Young, Portland and Cal State Fullerton, and Penn State edged the women's team out by a mere eight points. The Deacons again face the Nittany Lions when they travel to University Park, Pa., for the Penn State Invitational on Oct. 17. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. ET.
