Women's Cross Country Captures Second Consecutive Victory

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Junior Janelle Kraus led the Wake Forest women's cross country team to its second consecutive victory on Saturday at the Lou Onesty Invitational hosted by the University of Virginia. Kraus won the individual title for the second consecutive race, clearing the 5,000 meter course in a time of 17:34 to edge second place finisher Jamie Southerland of Virginia (17:41). An All-American last fall, Kraus now owns six individual titles in her career. The Demon Deacons scored 32 points in the meet, finishing ahead of the other 13 teams in the field, including second place William & Mary (37) and third place Virginia (59).

Senior Amy Wallace placed fifth with a time of 18:14 while junior Emily Selvidio (18:18) finished seventh. Rounding out the top performances for Wake Forest were junior Jill Snyder (8th, 18:22) and junior Alison Anibaldi (11th, 18:32).

The women's cross country squad will next be in action at the Iona Meet of Champions on September 26.
