WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest junior Natalie Mullikin has been named third team ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District in voting conducted by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Mullikin, a health and exercise science major from Lebanon, Ind., is a first-time member of the Academic All-District team.

Last season, Mullikin earned Academic All-ACC honors and was also a second team All-ACC pick. She was one of just 10 players in the conference to be selected for both teams. Mullikin was named to the ACC Honor Roll in 2005-06 and in 2006-07.

Mullikin is currently among the ACC leaders in four categories. The middle blocker ranks fifth in points (4.79 per game), sixth in kills (3.95), seventh in hitting percentage (.330) and eighth in blocks (1.22).

She recently set the Wake Forest career record for block solos, breaking a 21-year-old record. Mullikin also ranks in the top four on the school's career lists for total blocks, block assists and blocks per game. She is second all-time at Wake in total blocks.

In 2006, Mullikin set the Demon Deacon single-season records for total blocks and blocks per game.

Of the 20 players on the Academic All-District III teams, 11 were from the ACC.

District III includes institutions from the states of Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
