Deacon Volleyball Invitational Results and Recaps
Mississippi def. College of Charleston - 15-9, 15-6, 15-11
Susan Argue recorded 12 digs and a hitting percentage of .385 as Mississippi defeated the College of Charleston 3-0 in Saturday's first match. Cassie Lohmann led the College of Charleston with 13 kills, while Rebecca Polster had 15 digs.
Rutgers def. Wake Forest - 10-15, 16-14, 12-15, 15-10, 15-12
Four players recorded double-figure kill totals for Rutgers as the Scarlet Knights defeated Wake Forest in five games. Rutgers' Jacqui Bliss finished the match with 14 kills and only one error for an attack percentage of .500. Katie Horne of Wake Forest was the match leader in the kill category with 20.
West Virginia def. College of Charleston (7-7) - 15-6, 15-7, 15-11
West Virginia defeated the College of Charleston in three games to send the Cougars home without a win in the Deacon Invitational. Adriana Hardy recorded 17 kills for the Mountaineers to lead the team to the win. For the Cougars Rebecca Polster had 10 kills and an attack percentage of .316.
Mississippi (5-8) def. Wake Forest (6-7) - 10-15, 15-8, 15-2, 15-4
Susan Argue led Mississippi to a 3-1 win over host Wake Forest with 19 kills and only two errors in 35 total attempts. Mississippi setter Lisa Franinno came up with 43 assists to pace the Lady Rebels. Sharon Harmsworth and Jessica Hood each had eight kills for the Deacs to lead the team in that category.
West Virginia (8-5) def. Rutgers (9-6) - 15-9, 12-15, 5-15, 15-8, 15-4
West Virginia came back from being down two games to one to earn the Deacon Invitational title over Big East rival Rutgers in the tournament finale. Adriana Hardy and Megan Porter had 13 kills for the Mountaineers in the win. Lola Opadiran of Rutgers had a match high 23 kills for Rutgers.
