Deacon Volleyball Outlast Highlanders
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.-The Wake Forest volleyball team took five games to defeat the Radford Highlanders 3-2 in a Tuesday night contest in Reynolds Gym.
The Deacons are now 5-4 on the season, while Radford falls to 8-5. Sophomore Sharon Harmsworth led the Deacons with 14 kills, and fellow sophomore Katie Horne had five kills in the fifth game for a total of 13 in the match. Sophomore Amber Grahn recorded 38 assists on the night.
Anne Jackson of Radford had 17 kills, a game-high, while Laurie Layton registered 44 total assists.
Wake Forest will host the Deacon Invitational this Friday and Saturday at Reynolds Gym. The Deacs will play the College of Charleston at noon on Friday in the opening match of the tournament.
