Wake Forest Volleyball Defeats Davidson 3-0
Winston-Salem, Nc. --Sophomore Katie Horne (Nashua, NH) recorded 22 kills in leading Wake Forest past Davidson in volleyball action at Reynolds Gym on Wednesday night.
The Deacons won by scores of 15-5, 15-12, and 16-14 to improve to 8-10 on the season, while Davidson falls to 7-10.
Horne only had five errors in 51 attempts to record a hitting percentage of .333. She also contributed 14 digs as well as one service ace and two block assists.
Another Deacon, Sharon Harmsworth (Wadena, Saskatchewan) contributed 14 kills and had a match-high attack percentage of .379. Amber Grahn (Louisville, IL) had 43 assists for the Deacs.
Lois Ann Bumgarner and Janet Duncan of Davidson both had 11 kills to lead the Wildcats. Bumgarner also had 16 digs for a match-high.
Wake Forest travels to Maryland on Friday night and to Virginia on Saturday night. The Deacs do not return home until October 24 to face Maryland in Reynolds Gym.
