WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Trailing two games to one, Wake Forest (17-7, 5-5) rallied to tie the match at 2-2, but Clemson (15-6, 7-3 ACC) held off the Deacon attack and won by a final count of 3-2. It was Wake's second consecutive loss after winning four straight. The Deacons' Trina Maso de Moya recorded a school record 34 digs, surpassing the old record of 33. WFU senior Christy Kelly led the Deacons' with a career-high 23 kills. Seven Deacons finished with double digits in digs. The Deacons came out and lost the first two games by a combined total of five points, 15-13 and 15-12. Wake Forest was able to hold off defeat in game three, winning by a final score of 18-16. After picking up a five-point victory in game four, 15-10, the Deacons couldn't withstand the veteran Tiger attack in the fifth and deciding game, falling 15-10. Wake Forest returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 24 against ACC foe Florida State. Gametime is set for 7 p.m. in Reynolds Gym.
