Day 1 Decathlon Results WINSTON-SALEM,N.C. - Wake Forest track and field athletes Molly Kennedy and Aaron Payne hit lifetime best marks at the opening day of the Deacon Combined Events meet. Kennedy clocked a personal record of 14.29 in the 100m hurdles and followed with a three-bar improvement over her top mark in the high jump with a 5.04-25 performance. "Molly competed extremely well today," Wake Forest Track Coach Scott Hall said. "Her score is about 30 points higher after the first day then it was in the opening day of events at the ACC Championships." Freshman Aaron Payne, a Kernersville, N.C. native, participated in the first three decathlon events in order to get meet experience in the high jump, his primary event. Payne ended up setting lifetime best marks in the 100m dash and the long jump before also setting a personal record of 6-03.50 in the high jump. At the end of the first day, Ryan Olkowski leads the decathlon participants with a 4315 point total, followed by Wake Forest volunteer assistant coach Chris Helwick who stands at 4055. Lela V. Nelson leads the women in the heptathlon with 3508 points, followed by Ashely Wilhelm who holds a 3393 mark. Wake's Kennedy is currently in third with 3393 points. Events on Thursday have been moved to early times in preparation for inclement weather. The men's events will begin at 11 a.m., while the women's start has moved to 1 p.m.
