PHILADELPHIA - Members of the Wake Forest track and field team were in competition at the 113th annual Penn Relays on Thursday, and freshman Alexandra Gove used the opportunity to run a new lifetime best in the 400-meter hurdles. The Denver native ran a time of 1:00.9 in the event to win her heat by over a second. Gove's time moved her into second on the Wake Forest all-time performance list in the event and was also a regionally-qualifying performance. Competing in the same event, junior Michelle Duffey ran a time of 1:01.19. Senior Lindsay Neuberger, who earned All-ACC honors at last weekend's conference championships, placed sixth in the shot put with a toss of 49-9 3/4. The 4x400-meter relay team of Duffey, Melissa Council, Gove and Nicole Castronuova ran a time of 3:48.02 in the event, good for seventh in its heat. In the 3,000-meter run, sophomores Allison Kieffer (9:48.49) and Merry Placer (9:59.58) placed eighth and 18th, respectively. Both were seasonal bests for the distance runners. Additionally, freshman Kelly Polisin placed 18th in her first 3,000-meter steeplechase of the season, running a time of 11:33.42. - WakeForestSports.com -
