ATLANTA, Ga. - Senior Jill Ahrens set a new program pole vault record for the third time this season on the first day of competition at the Atlantic Coast Conference Outdoor Tournament.

Ahrens posted a 12-05.50 mark, topping her previous best performance of 12-03.50 set at the Duke Invitational on April 5. The mark earned Ahrens a third place finish among conference competitors.

Junior Carly Mauch placed second in the Javelin throw with a 142-03 mark, while senior Molly Kennedy placed fourth in the heptathlon with 3213 points. In the shot put leg of the competition, Kennedy earned 658 points with a 39-02.50 throw that took second place.

On the men's side, Thomas Sensing placed 12th in the hammer throw with a 140-10 mark, while Stephen Castillejo took 12th placed in the javelin throw with a 160-10 performance.

The sprints and mid distance trials will begin on Friday along with shot put, long jump and high jump trials and finals.
