BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Wake Forest University men's and women's track & field teams competed Friday and Saturday in the 2001 Valentine Indoor Invitational at Virginia Tech. Both teams performed well in their final tune up before the ACC Indoor Championships. Another school record fell for the women.

Carol Merritt broke her own school record in the 200-Meter Dash, finishing with a time of 24.86. Merritt, a freshman from Raleigh, NC, set the school record three weeks ago on the same track at the Kroger Invitational in her first collegiate try at the 200-Meter Dash. Nikeya Green ran a career best 2:09.91 in the 800-Meter Run.

Adralyn Wendel took fourth place in the 1,000-Meter Run with a 3:00.94. Jill Snyder won the mile with a time of 4:51.36, the third race that she has won this season. Sandra Jenkins threw her best shot put of the season with a 43'7" toss, good for 10th place.

Zach Hamilton upped his best pole vault mark by clearing 14'7". J.T. Kuretich set a season best mark in the long jump leaping 22'7" and T.J. Thompson set a team best mark in the triple jump, finishing with 45'7". Cliff Neal tossed a career best 57'3" in the 35lb Weight Throw.
