Sara Day Position: Volunteer Assistant Coach Experience: 1st season Alma Mater: Wake Forest, 2001

Three-time All-American Sara Day will share her distance running expertise with current Demon Deacons as she begins her first season as a volunteer assistant coach for Wake Forest

CROSS COUNTRY

• Led team in every race, finishing in the top 4 six times
• Runner-up at 2000 ACC Championships, earning all-ACC honors
• Took 3rd at 2000 NCAA Regionals, earning all-region honors and automatic bid to NCAA Championships
• Ran a 22:03 at the NCAA Championships
• Ran in six races in 1999
• Had two top 10 finishes junior year
• Finished 15th at the 1999 ACC Championships

TRACK & FIELD

• Broke school record in 10,000m at 2001 US Outdoor Nationals, taking 10th place overall, and was the second collegian to cross the finish line, qualifying for the US National Team competing in the World University Games
• Runner-up in 10,000m at 2001 NCAA Championships, earning All-American honors
• Finished third in the 5,000m at the 2001 ACC Outdoor Championships, earning All-ACC honors and provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Championships
• Won the 1500m at the 2001 Wake Forest Relays
• Placed eighth in the 3,000m at the 2001 NCAA Indoor Championships, earning All-American honors and breaking the school record
• Ran the anchor leg of the Distance Medley Relay team that finished fourth at the NCAA Championships, earning All-American honors and breaking the school record
• 2001 ACC Champion in both the indoor 3,000m and 5,000m, provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Championships in both
• Won the 3,000m at the 2001 Hershey Relays
• Took third in the 3,000m at the 2001 Meyo Invitational
• Won 5,000m at 2000 49er Classic
• Placed 4th in 5,000m at 2000 ACC Outdoor Championships
• Took 9th in 3,000m at 2000 ACC Indoor Championships
• Finished 10th in 5,000m at 2000 ACC Indoor Championships
• Garnered top 10 finishes in every event junior year

PRIOR TO WAKE FOREST

• Transferred to Wake Forest from High Point in 1999
• Captained High Point cross country, indoor and outdoor track teams sophomore year, earning MVP honors in each sport
• 1999 Big South Champion in both 3,000m and 5,000m
• Earned academic all-conference honors

BACKGROUND

• 1995 and 1997 North Carolina state champion in both 1,600m and 800m
• Placed 3rd in state in cross country in 1994
• Four-time all-state selection
