Deacs Fall to Stanford in NCAA Quarters

Wake Finish in Final Eight is Best Ever

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Wake Forest womens tennis team lost to 2nd-ranked Stanford here Friday, 5-2, in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championship. The 13th-ranked Demon Deacons, who were making their first-ever appearance in the final eight of the national tournament, completed their season with an 18-9 record.

Lule Aydin at number-two singles and Jackie Houston at number-five recorded Wake wins. For Aydin, the teams only senior, it was her ninth consecutive win in singles competition.

Aydin and the Deacon number-one doubles team of Nicola Kaiwai and Dorothee Kurz will participate in the NCAA singles and doubles championships which take place here next week.
