CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Wake senior Alex Hirsch and junior Sasha Kulikova outlasted 60 tandems from across the Southeast to earn a spot in the ITA Regional doubles semifinals, scheduled for Monday morning. The Wake duo hasn't given up more than four games per pro set, defeating Deanna Bailey and Jenn Tucci of Elon 8-4, Laura Borza and Link Leskosky of Wofford 8-3 and Virginia Berry/Kelsey Linville of Wofford 8-4. On Monday Hirsch and Kulikova will face fourth seed Sophie Grabinski/Sanaz Marand of host school UNC. Kulikova also advanced to the semifinals in the singles main draw before falling to Duke's No. 5 seed Reka Zslinszka. Kulikova defeated conference foe Amanda Granson of Duke 6-1, 6-0 in third round following straight set wins over opponents from Furman and Eastern Kentucky. Hirsch made a run to the quarterfinals in singles, defeating opponents from UNC Greensboro, Middle Tennessee and Clemson in two sets before falling to UNC's second-seeded Sanaz Marand 6-4, 3-6, 6-1. After advancing past round one, both WFU freshmen Katarina Reveche and Emilee Malvehy fell to North Carolina competitors in the second round of the singles play.
