Women's Tennis Defeats No. 12 Tennessee

Demon Deacons season record improves to 9-5.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The 10th-ranked Wake Forest women's tennis team beat 12th-ranked Tennessee 7-2 Saturday afternoon at Leighton Stadium. The win pushes the team's record on the season to 9-5.

Wake Forest dominated singles action. Freshman Mariel Verban (#57) won at No. 2 over Whitney Dill, 6-3, 6-4. Lule Aydin beat Erin Lowrey in a close match at No. 3, 7-5, 7-6. Dorothee Kurz, Annemarie Milton, and Terri Heiti were also straight-set winners.

The Demon Deacons took two of three doubles matches. Aydin and Verban won at No. 1, 8-5 and Milton and Line Ullring were victorious at No. 2, 9-7.

Wake Forest plays host to Clemson tomorrow, March 29, at noon.
