No.11 Women's Tennis Falls to No.1 Florida

Loss drops Deacons' record to 8-4.

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The 11th-ranked Wake Forest women's tennis team lost 8-0 to #1-ranked Florida Saturday afternoon at Indoor Tennis Center. The loss was the Deacons second in a row and dropped the team's record to 8-4.

Wake Forest was overwhelmed by the Gators' talented singles squad. Nicola Kaiwai fell at No. 1 to Dawn Buth, who is ranked 17th in the country. Lule Aydin (#88) pushed M.C. White (#46) at No.2 before falling in three sets 3-6, 6-1, 7-6. Wake Forest's Mariel Verban (#43) lost to Stephanie Nickitas (#56) at No. 3, 6-2, 6-3.

In doubles action, Wake's star team of Kaiwai and Dorothee Kurz (#6) fell at No. 1 to Buth and Nickitas (#1). Annmarie Milton and Line Ullring lost at No. 3, 8-6.

Wake Forest returns to action on Wednesday, March 25 when they visit No. 3 Duke. The Demon Deacons host #12 Tennessee next Saturday at noon. The women also play host to Clemson at noon on Sunday.
