Women's Tennis Falls to Tennessee, 5-4

Final doubles match is deciding factor.

In a thrilling non-conference match the Demon Deacons finally were overcome by Tennessee, 5-4 at the Goodfriend Tennis Center in Knoxville on Saturday. The win marked the first for UT over Wake Forest since 1993. The Demon Deacons fall to 0-1 on the season.

The match came down to the final doubles match of the afternoon, at No. 3. In the match, Tennessee's duo of senior Emily Woodside (Clinton, SC) and freshman Meiling Parks (Abilene, Texas) prevailed as they beat Lea Miller and Annemarie Milton of Wake Forest, 8-6. The two teams split the other doubles matches with Wake Forest winning the No. 1 match, 8-4, and the Lady Vols netting the decision 8-3, at No. 2.
