Wake Forest Record of Achievements
- Wake Forest rose to #8 in the national rankings in 1997 and was one of only 10 teams to be seeded automatically into the NCAA Championship Finals.
- The Demon Deacons annually play one of the most challenging schedules in the country. In 1997, 18 of 26 opponents were ranked among the national Top 40.
- Wake Forest defeated seven Top 20 teams in 1997.
- The Demon Deacons have now appeared in four consecutive NCAA Championship events.
- Wake Forest has averaged 20 wins per season the past three years, compiling a three-year record of 60-19 (75.9 winning pct.)
- The Demon Deacons had three individuals ranked among the ITA's national Top 100 players in 1997, while the doubles tandem of Lule Aydin and Nicola Kaiwai was ranked in the Top 25.
- Wake Forest head coach Lew Gerrard was the ITA Southeast Region "Coach of the Year" in 1997. Freshman Amy Jensen was the region's "Player to Watch" for '97.
- The Demon Deacons have compiled an excellent 21-3 record against Atlantic Coast Conference opponents in regular season competition the past three seasons.
- Wake Forest has led all Atlantic Coast Conference schools with eight players being named to the All-ACC team in 1996 and 1997 (four each season).
- Demon Deacon seniors Cristina Caparis and Maggie Harris, who graduated this year after competing in four straight NCAA Championships, combined for more than 200 singles victories during their outstanding careers.
