Wake Forest-NC State Game Notes

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The 19th-ranked Wake Forest women's soccer team hosts NC State on Thursday night at 7 p.m. (ET) in the Susan G. Komen Kick for the Cure match. The game against the Wolfpack will be aired live on the web on ACC Select.

Several special promotions are schedule in conjunction with the Kick for the Cure game, including the Wake Forest women's soccer team wearing commemorative pink jerseys provided by Nike. Fans will have the opportunity to bid on these game-worn jerseys in a silent auction that will be held during the game. All proceeds from the silent auction will go to benefit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Pink t-shirts will also be thrown out during the game.

The Deacons are coming off a 5-0 loss at Florida State a week ago. Wake Forest currently sits in seventh place with a 2-4 ACC record. The top eight teams make the ACC Tournament in Cary, N.C.

Wake Forest struggled to get anything going offensively against the Seminoles, taking only six shots in the game, including one shot on goal. Laura Morse and Amanda Barasha split time in goal. Morse allowed two goals, while Barasha surrendered three goals.

NC State enters Thursday's game with an 8-8 overall record and a 0-6 record in ACC play. After opening the season with seven straight wins, NC State is 1-8 in its last nine contests. The Wolfpack is coming off a 5-0 loss at North Carolina.

NC State is led by Lindsay Vera, who leads the team in goals with eight and points with 21. Meredith Parrilla leads the Wolfpack with six assists on the season.

Kim Kern and Rachel Barnette have split time in goal for NC State, with each starting eight games. Kern has allowed nine goals, posting a 1.07 goals against average and recording three shutouts, while Barnette has a 2.69 GAA on the season.

Wake Forest and NC State are meeting for the 17th time in series history. The Deacons currently lead the series 10-5-1 and have won 10 of the last 11 meetings in the series.
