Sept. 29, 2007

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The No. 23 Wake Forest women's soccer team will host fourth-ranked Virginia on Sunday afternoon at Spry Stadium. Kick-off is set for 1 p.m.

The Cavaliers (7-1-1, 1-0-0 ACC) will be the Demon Deacons' (6-3-1, 1-0-0) fourth ranked opponent of the 2007 schedule. The Deacons are currently 2-1-0 over teams featured in the national polls.

Earlier in the week, the Deacons posted a 3-1 win over Virginia Tech to open the ACC season on Thursday night. Virginia also notched a conference win that evening, defeating Duke 2-0 in Durham.

The Cavaliers' only loss of the season was an upset by then-10th ranked Stanford and team's draw came two days later to No. 3 Santa Clara.

Historically, the Cavaliers lead the Deacons 4-11-1. Last season WFU clashed with team three times: first, in the regular season where the Cavs pulled out a 2-1 win in Charlottesville; second, in the ACC tournament first round where the Deacons advanced on a 2-1 win; and third, in the second round of the NCAA tourney where the Cavs advanced on a 2-0 shutout.
