WINTSON-SALEM, N.C. - The No. 23 Wake Forest women's soccer team is set to host Virginia Tech in the Demon Deacon ACC opener at 7 p.m. on Thursday night.

The Deacons (5-3-1, 0-0-0) posted a pair of wins last weekend, defeating the Brown Bears 2-0 in Winston-Salem and followed with a top-20 upset over No. 13 West Virginia in Morgantown, Va.

Sophomore Jill Hutchinson earned Soccer Buzz Player of the Week honors for the second consecutive week for posting a goal in both the Brown and West Virginia matches.

Jill Hutchinson and junior Amy Smerdzinski are the current leading Deacon scorers, while sophomore Kaley Fountain leads the team with four assists.

The Hokies (4-2-1, 0-0-0) have two recent wins under their Hokie belts; a home victory over Elon and a 1-0 win over Arizona on the road.

Last season the Deacons defeated the Hokies 3-1 in Blacksburg, Va, giving Wake a 3-1-0 all-time series lead. Amy Smerdzinksi and Sarah Winslow netted goals for the Deacons in the contest.
