Winston-Salem, NC - Junior defender Melanie Schneider was named to the SoccerBuzz Elite Team of the Week, announced SoccerBuzz Magazine Wednesday. Schneider led the Deacons to back-to-back victories in the Charlotte Classic Tournament last weekend. Wake Forest is 3-0-1 this season.

Schneider scored two goals and tallied one assist against Virginia Commonwealth on Friday night. She took two shots against Mississippi, as the Deacons defeated the Rebels 2-1.

From her backfield position, Schneider has three goals this season, the second-most on the team. She also has two assists, tying her with teammate Taylor Toombs for most assists this season. Schneider has started all four games for Wake Forest.

The Deacons host the Wake Forest/adidas Tournament this weekend at Spry Stadium, with a 7:30 p.m. start against Colorado on Friday. On Sunday, Wake Forest faces Denver at 2:00.

Schneider was one of two ACC players to make the team. Virginia Tech's Ashley Stinson joined Schneider on the 11-member team of honorees.
