WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The No. 21 Wake Forest women's soccer team closes out its exhibition schedule on Tuesday afternoon as it plays host to Southeastern Conference opponent Vanderbilt. Opening kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. at Spry Stadium. "We're looking to continue our attacking them, which we've been concentrating on during fall practice so far," head coach Tony da Luz said. "Hopefully we'll be able to escape the game with no injuries and start to get ready for our regular season opener." Wake Forest is coming off an impressive 6-1 victory over Appalachian State on Sunday afternoon. Junior Sarah Winslow posted a hat trick for the Deacs in the victory and senior Amanda Lebo added two goals and two assists. Allie Sadow scored the other goal for the Demon Deacons. Vanderbilt will be playing its first and only exhibition game of the year on Tuesday. The Commodores are coming off a 6-10-3 record in 2007, including a 3-6-2 mark in the SEC. Under the direction of head coach Ronnie Coveleskie, Vanderbilt returns seven starters and 17 letterwinners from last year's team, including senior midfielder Katie Schulz, who was recently named to the preseason All-SEC team. "Vanderbilt is always a strong team in the SEC," da Luz said. "We've played them a couple of times before and all the games have been pretty good games. I'm expecting a higher level of athleticism and overall play. It will be a good test for us." A recap and stats from Tuesday's match will be available on wakeforestsports.com. -WakeForestSports.com-
