Women's Soccer Falls to Maryland

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- No. 13 Maryland (4-1) handed the No. 22 Wake Forest women's soccer team their first loss of the 1997 season, defeating the Demon Deacons 4-0 in the first day of the Puma Tournament at Ludwig Field.

Michelle Deville opened the scoring for the Terps at the 28:39 mark, giving UM a 1-0 halftime lead. Maryland ran off three more scores in the second half, including back-toback scores by Keri Sarver, while Terp goalie Alli Wolff collected her third shutout of the year. Beth Klein made seven daves in goal for the Deacs.

Wake will next face Loyola (Md) on Sunday in the Puma Tournament at 1:00 pm.
