Women's Soccer Blanks Davidson

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.-Christie Melby and Jessen Snyder each scored a goal to lead 18th-ranked Wake Forest to a 2-0 victory over Davidson Sunday afternoon at Spry Stadium.

Melby broke a scoreless tie at the 50:24 mark when she scored off a pass from teammate Stefanie Mathews. Snyder added the second goal just a minute later when she found the back of the net at 51:47, also off a pass from Mathews. The win broke a three game losing streak for the Demon Deacons, who improved to 9-5-1 on the season. Davidson dropped to 3-10-2.

Wake Forest goalkeeper Beth Klein made four saves to earn her fifth solo shutout of the season. The Deacons outshot the Wildcats 25-8. Wake Forest returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 22 when the Deacons travel to Chapel Hill to take on defending national champion North Carolina at 7 p.m.
