November 5, 1998 ORLANDO, FL -- On a last second goal from Anne Shropshire, No. 4 seeded Wake Forest defeated No. 5 Maryland 2-1 to advanced to the semifinals of the Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Soccer Tournament at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando. On a breakaway, Shropshire took the pass from Stefanie Mathews to deliver the game-winning goal at the 89:55 mark. Maryland's Keri Sarver opened the scoring at the 35:26 mark on a stolen ball from the goalkeeper. Wake's Stacy Roeck tied the scored at the 73:59 mark on a pass from Rachel Thomas. Ironically, Shropshire scored the game-winner against Maryland two weeks ago in a 3-2 overtime victory. The Demon Deacons will face the top-seeded North Carolina Tar Heels Friday night at 8:00 PM. A week ago UNC defeated the Wake Forest 3-0 in Winston-Salem.
