DURHAM, N.C. -- Freshman Carly Fuller's unassisted shot just 30 seconds into overtime lifted the Duke Blue Devils to a 3-2 victory over 13th-ranked Wake Forest. The win gives 22nd-ranked Duke its first ACC victory of the season, as the Devils improve to 9-6 overall, 1-3 in the league while Wake Forest drops to 9-3 overall and 3-1 in the ACC. Duke scored its first goal just 2 minutes and 41 seconds into the contest when sophomore forward Sarah Pickens (Greensboro, N.C.) converted on a direct kick from junior midfielder Susan Kraeger (St. Louis, Mo.) to put the Blue Devils up 1-0. That goal was the only score of the first period, as Duke took six shots and Wake Forest only three in the half. Wake Forest tied it up early in the second half, as sophomore Emily Taggart (Pleasanton, Calif.) connected with the net on an unassisted 18-yard shot from the left side. The teams continued to trade goals, as a corner kick from Duke's Kraeger found its way to junior midfielder Kasey Truman (Sierra Madre, Calif.), who drilled it in at the 68:14 mark. The Demon Deacons tied it up again with 5:12 remaining in contest, on an unassisted shot from freshman forward Joline Charlton (Stone Mountain, Ga.). Time expired in regulation with the teams tied at two. But Duke gained control of the ball, and Fuller (Tualatin, Ore.) scored at the 90:30 mark, off of a deflected header. The starting goalkeepers for each team both played the entire match, as Duke's Isis Dallis (Marlboro, Mass.) had four saves and Wake Forest's Beth Klein Rockville Centre, N.Y.) recorded five stops. Wake edged Duke in corner kicks, 3-2, but the Blue Devils outshot the Deacs 15-8. The Demon Deacons return home this weekend, returning to action when they host Brown on Sunday, Oct. 17 at 1:00 p.m. SCORING SUMMARY
