Oct. 5, 1999 Wake Forest used a pair of second half goals to lift the 8th-ranked Demon Deacons past UNC Greensboro, 2-0, on Tuersday evening in Greensboro. With the victory, the Demon Deacons improved to 8-2 on the season while the Spartans dropped to 6-7. Stacy Roeck scored the game-winner for the Deacons in the 71st minute on a shot from short range off a cross from the left side by Lindsey Griffin. Emily Taggart tacked on a Wake goal with 15 seconds left in the game, lobbing a 30-yard shot over the head of UNCG goalie Kathryn Clewley. The Deacons dominated the second half of the game, holding a 16-1 advantage in shots on goal and an 8-0 edge in corner kicks in the period. Wake would have gotten its second goal 10 minutes earlier had Spartan defender Jennifer Kennedy not knocked Rachael Lewis's point-blank shot on goal off the line in the 79th minute. For the game Wake held a 24-5 advantage in shots and a 12-1 edge in corners in its first contest ever at UNCG. Wake Forest will return to action when the Demon Deacons host UNC Charlotte on October 12.
