COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Jill Hutchinson's golden goal in the 87th minute pushed the No. 18 Wake Forest women's soccer team over Maryland 1-0 in College Park on Friday night.

The Demon Deacons (7-3-2, 2-0-1) fired 18 shots during the contest, while the Terps (5-3-2, 0-2-0) were only able to get seven shots past the WFU defense and had no shots on goal.

Wake senior Ashley Burney had the game-winning assist at the contest, the second clutch play of the season for the senior, who only saw limited playing time until 2007. Two weeks ago Burney posted the game-winning goal over No. 13 West Virginia to solidify the Deacs' highest ranked win of the season.

The goal against the Terrapins was sophomore striker Hutchinson's seventh for the season. Hutchinson is a two-time Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week member for 2007 and earned ACC Player of the Week honors two weeks ago for her goals in contests with No. 18 West Virginia and Brown.

The Deacons will continue with the second game of their three-match conference road swing on Sunday, facing the ninth-ranked Boston College Eagles in Chestnut Hill, Mass. beginning at 1 p.m.
