Box Score

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's soccer team lost 0-1 to Duke Wednesday evening at Spry Stadium. In a pivotal ACC matchup that went down to the wire, Alison Sanders scored the game-winning goal for the 12th ranked Blue Devils with less than two minutes remaining in a scoreless game that seemed destined for overtime. The 20th ranked Demon Deacons fall to 6-5-1 overall and 1-1 in the ACC, while Duke improves its record to 9-2 with a 3-1 ACC mark.

Wake Forest was held to 10 shots on the match, placing only two on goal. Duke fired seven of 16 tries on the Demon Deacon goal. The Deacs stopped the first six, five by goalkeeper Tracy Chao and one by defender A.B. Robbins. At the 88:02 mark a ball lofted up in front of the Wake Forest goal by Duke defender Maegan Lobo-Berg found Blue Devil forward Alison Sanders, who bounced it in to the side net for Duke's game winner.

The Demon Deacons return to action Saturday, Oct. 7, when they travel to Tallahassee, Fla., to take on No. 22 Florida State at 7:00 p.m.
