Box Score

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Brown University Bears sniffed around Spry Stadium for their first win of the season, but the Wake Forest women's soccer team snuffed them out with 2-0 shutout Friday night.

The Bears (0-4-1) kept their goal heavily defended, but that didn't stop the Demon Deacons (4-3-1), who landed two beautiful long range goals. Amy Smerdzinksi had the first from nearly 20 yards out, with an assist by Jill Hutchinson. Hutchinson then landed her fourth goal of the season from 15 yards, with an assist by Kaley Fountain.

Laura Morse manned the Deacon net for the night, recording her first win and shutout of the season.

The Deacons will have little time to celebrate, as they face No. 18 West Virginia this Sunday at 2 p.m. in Morgantown, W. Va.
