September 18, 1998 TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Sophomore April Murphy had the single goal for Florida State tonight as the Seminoles fell to ACC rival Wake Forest 3-1 at the site of the new Seminole Soccer Complex. The Seminoles drop to 3-3-0 as the Demon Deacons improve to 4-1-1 after the game in Tallahassee. "We came out and put the pressure on Wake Forest at the beginning of the first half," Head Coach Heather Kerby-Nelson said. "We faded in the last 15 minutes of the first half but came out and played solid in the second half." Kerby-Nelson was reinstated this afternoon after an indefinite suspension beginning August 26. Florida State held the Decons until the 35th minute when Shopshire scored off a direct kick after a penalty inside the goalie box. Wake Forest then scored just before the half but the Seminoles held them until the 85th minute before the Decons scored their third goal. Murphy scored the Seminoles goal in the 87th minute off a cross assist from Rachael Watkin but the Decons held on to win 3-1. The Seminoles host #1 North Carolina on Sunday, September 20 at 2pm at the site of the new Seminole Soccer Complex.
