Women's Soccer Downs Oregon, 3-2, to Remain Unbeaten

PORTLAND, Ore. - Senior Meghan Suddes scored an overtime goal to lead Wake Forest (3-0-1) to a 3-2 victory over Oregon (2-1) on Saturday afternoon in the first round of the Portland/Adidas Invitational.

The Demon Deacons got on the scoreboard first just before halftime when senior Stefanie Mathews found the back of the net at 35:03 on a header assisted by Anne Shropshire and Christie Melby. Melby then made the score 2-0 with a goal at the 53:52 mark off a pass from Mathews. Oregon battled back to tie the score in the second half when Melissa Parker and Stacy Hebert scored goals at 65:22 and 74:49, respectively. The game remained scoreless through the final 15 minutes of regulation.

Suddes gave Wake Forest the 3-2 victory when she scored just 2:08 into overtime off a pass from Shropshire.

The Demon Deacons outshot Oregon, 19-11, on the afternoon. Freshman Erin Regan made five saves in goal for Wake Forest while Oregon goalkeeper Amanda Fox made 11 saves from the Ducks.

Wake Forest will face 6th-ranked Portland on Sunday at 5:15 p.m. ET.
