WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.--The Wake Forest women's soccer team defeated the Oregon Ducks 2-0 in the first round of the Wake Forest-Nike Invitational at Spry Stadium Friday night. After a scoreless first half, Karli Schilling scored the Deacons' first goal at the 53:36 mark in the game. Joline Charlton added the second goal for the Deacs at 89:33 in the game. With the win, the Deacons remain unbeaten on the season at 4-0. In the early game, the UCLA Bruins defeated the North Carolina-Charlotte 49ers by a score of 7-0. Jessica Winton scored three goals to lead the Bruins. Venus James followed Winton with two goals, while Stacy Duncan and Tracey Milburn added a goal apiece. Both UCLA and UNC-Charlotte are now 3-1 on the season. The tournament resumes Sunday, Sept. 12. Oregon and UNC-Charlotte
will begin the action, playing at 12:30 p.m. followed by Wake Forest and
UCLA at 3 p.m. All games will be played at Spry Stadium.
