Sept. 5, 2008 BLACKSBURG, Va. - The No. 10 Wake Forest (4-0) women's soccer team out-shot George Washington (1-3-0) 14-3 en route to a 2-0 win on a sunny Friday afternoon at Virginia Tech Soccer Stadium. "It was a good, solid win for us," head coach Tony da Luz said. "It was a nice performance against a George Washington team that kept working, defending really well and counter attacked, so it was a really good win for our team." Wake Forest held possession of the ball for much of the game. The Deacons held a 14-3 advantage in shots and held the Colonials to no shots on goal. Wake Forest had five corner kicks compared to zero for George Washington. Junior Laura Morse got her first start in goal on the season, playing the first 45 minutes of the game. Morse made two saves in the opening half. Sophomore Amanda Barasha played the final 45 minutes. The Wake Forest women's soccer team remains undefeated after a 2-0 shutout at George Washington. Wake Forest (4-0-0) allowed just three shots on goal en route to victory at Blacksburg, Va. Wake Forest scored first in the 18th minute. Freshman Amanda Howell, making her first start of her collegiate career, played the ball up the right side of the field. Howell sent a through ball that found junior Allie Sadow in the box. Sadow fired a shot from eight yards out that found the back of the net for her fourth goal of the year. The Deacons closed the scoring at the 39:25 mark as Jill Hutchinson notched her fourth goal in as many games. Eleanor Davidson played a pass to Sadow. Sadow crossed the ball to the left post and found Hutchinson. Hutchinson played a shot from six yards out to score Wake's second goal of the game.
