SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The No. 19 Wake Forest women's soccer team was upset 2-1 by the San Diego Toreros Friday night at the San Diego Tournament.

Amy Smerdzinksi notched WFU's only goal of the evening in the 77th minute with a sharp penalty kick. The Deacs out-shot the Toreros 12-6, but it wasn't enough to take the season opener win.

The Deacons will continue play on Sunday with Pepperdine.
