Complete Golf World Poll in PDF Format WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's golf team is ranked ninth in the third Golf World poll of the season which was released on Wednesday. The poll is made up of a combination of resources of Golf World magazine and the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA). The Demon Deacons are also ranked 11th in the latest Golfweek poll and 12th in the first Golfstat poll, which was also released on Wednesday. Wake was ranked 12th by both the Golfweek and Golf World preseason polls and this is the first time the Deacs have cracked the top-ten in any of the polls this season. One of the reasons for the jump into the top-ten was the Deacs play at the Lady Tar Heel Invitational on Oct. 4-6. Wake won the team title by 12 shots over host North Carolina and placed three golfers in the top-five, including sophomore Natalie Sheary and senior Jean Chua sharing medalist honors. The Deacs topped both North Carolina, who is ranked 13th in the Golf World poll and Virginia, who is ranked 8th, at the Lady Tar Heel. Duke, who is ranked 7th, is the top-ranked ACC team in Golf World's poll. UCLA is the new number one team in the Golf World poll, earning 17 of the 25 first-place votes. The Bruins defeated eight other top-10 teams en route to a victory at the Mason Rudolph Women's Championship late last month. They also hold the top spot in the first Golfstat poll. Rounding out the top-five in Golf World's poll are Southern California (No. 2), Arizona State (No. 3), Georgia (No. 4) and Oklahoma State (No. 5). Vanderbilt had the biggest jump, moving from unranked in the last poll to 10th in this week's poll. The Lady Commodores finished fourth at the Mason Rudolph and third at the Lady Tar Heel. Wake will wrap up the fall portion of its schedule on Oct. 24-26 at the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, N.C. The Landfall Tradition was the site of the Deacs lone victory last season and senior Nannette Hill picked up her first collegiate individual title at the event.
