Oct. 9, 1999 CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Wake Forest is in third place with one round remaining at the Lady Tar Heel Invitational in Chapel Hill, NC. The Deacons have a two-round 615, 19 strokes behind Duke, who leads the event with a 596. Junior Marta Prieto was Wake Forest's top finisher in the event after day two, shooting a 74 to enter the final round tied for 12th with a 153. Sophomore Katie Brenny shot a team-high 72 on the par72 course and, with a two-round 154, is in a tie for 16th heading into the final day. Freshman Maria Beautell is also at 154 after two days, shooting an 80 on the first 18 holes and a 74 on Saturday. Nuria Clau, also a freshman, is in a tie for 26th with a 157. Senior Kelly Kirwin is the Deacons' final finisher, and enters the final round with a two-day 166 after shooting an 87 and 79 each round. Candy Hannemann of Duke and Danielle Downey of Auburn lead the event with a two-round 145. The tournament concludes Sunday, October 10.
