Recent graduate Jordan Craig, rising senior Nannette Hill and rising sophomore Natalie Sheary have been named to the 2008 All-ACC Academic Women's Golf Team, announced Wednesday by Commissioner John Swofford.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career. Hill and Sheary are two of eight ACC women's golfers to be named to both the 2008 All-Academic Team and the 2008 All-Conference Team. Players earning both All-Academic and All-Conference honors this season were Duke's Amanda Blumenherst, Jennie Lee, Jennifer Pandolfi and Alison Whitaker; Caroline Westrup from Florida State; Sydney Crane from North Carolina and Wake Forest's Hill and Sheary. Hill, a Sociology major, was one of 12 repeat honorees on the 21-member team. Craig, who majored in business at Wake Forest, was named to the team for the first time. Sheary, undeclared in her major, was the 2008 Freshman of the Year in the ACC. She won the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge and recorded four top 10 finishes and seven top 20 finishes on the season. Eleven golfers were repeat honorees from the 2007 All-ACC Academic team, which includes Duke's Blumenherst, Pandolfi and Whitaker; Florida State's Whitney Brummett and Westrup; Maryland's Kathryn Trotter; Miami's Jessica Steward; Sydney Crane and Ann Laney from North Carolina; Stephanie Derrey from NC State and Virginia's Whitney Neuhauser.
