The NCAA East Regional is contested at Salem Glen Country Club in Clemmons, N.C. The top eight teams and two individuals advance to the NCAA Championship in West Lafayette, Ind., May 21-24.

Sophomore Christine Hallstrom added a 77 for the Deacons, six-over, and has a tournament total of 161, 19-over.

"It was a much better day than yesterday," said head coach Dianne Dailey. "The students came out and they really wanted to play well and they were determined to play better and they did and I think that took a lot of heart. They hung in there and they were really steady all day long. I told them to put themselves in the best position for every shot and they did."

North Carolina's Meaghan Francella fired her second-consecutive 69, two-under par, and leads both first round leaders, Furman's Brandi Jackson and South Carolina's Kristy McPherson (139, three-under par).

The Duke Blue Devils continue to lead all teams after a two-over par 286. The school has a two-day total of 574 (288-286, six-over par). Vanderbilt is second, nine-strokes behind, at 583 (15-over par). Georgia stands third, one-stroke behind the Commodores, at 584 (16-over par).

Final round play will begin Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m.
