WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's golf team has had a couple of good weeks of practice in preparation for this weekend's Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic hosted by the University of Georgia and will be looking for its first victory of the spring.

"Coming out of our last tournament, the students couldn't wait to get back out on the golf course," said Wake Forest head coach Dianne Dailey. "We had a two solid weeks of practice and I know everyone is ready to compete again."

Coach Dailey was referring to the team's disappointing finish at the LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic two weeks ago but nevertheless, the Deacs still finished in the top-5 of a good field and moved up one spot to sixth in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin rankings.

Wake will go with the same lineup it used in Baton Rouge with senior Nannette Hill, sophomore Natalie Sheary, senior Jean Chua, junior Dolores White and freshman Cheyenne Woods.

The Demon Deacons are very familiar with the University of Georgia Golf Course as this will be the tenth-straight time Wake has played in the event. The Deacs have enjoyed a certain amount of success throughout the years, finishing no worse than eighth, nine of the ten times including a pair of third place finishes in 2003 and 2006.

This will also be Hill and Chua's fourth consecutive trip to Athens. Hill has been pretty consistent in her first three years, finishing T12, T28 and T24 with a stroke average of 76.1 in nine tournament rounds. Chua has averaged just over 77 strokes per round in her three appearances with her best finish being a T41st as a freshman in 2006.

Sheary and White will be making their second trips to the Peach State this weekend. White finished T39 in 2007 after shooting a season-low 1-under 71 in the second round. Sheary finished T33 last season as a freshman.

Week-in and week-out, Wake Forest squares off against the top competition in the country in each of its tournaments. This weekend is no exception with 14 of the 18 teams ranked in the top-50 including eight teams in the top-15. Oklahoma State is the highest ranked team at No. 4 followed by Virginia (No. 5), Wake Forest (No. 6), Auburn (No. 7), Arkansas (No. 8), LSU (No. 11), Georgia (No. 13) and North Carolina (No. 14).

Georgia has won its own tournament four out of the last five seasons with Auburn sneaking in for the victory in 2007. The Bulldogs were pushed to a playoff last season as Purdue, backed by medalist-tying performances from Christina Boeljon and Maria Hernandez, pulled even with the Dogs through 54-holes but the hosts were able to pull out the victory on the second extra hole.

Wake Forest will begin play on Friday morning at 9:50 a.m. Saturday's round will also get underway with tee-times starting at 9:00 a.m. with Sunday's final round starting with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m.
