Wake 10th After First Round of Lady Paladin
GREENVILLE, SC--Senior Alexandra Armas (Las Palmas, Canary Islands) fired an even par 72 to help the eighth ranked Wake Forest women's golf team end the first round of the Lady Paladin Invitational in 10th place on Friday.
The Deacs finished the first round with a team score of 309 and are 17 strokes behind first place Auburn.
Armas' score of 72 puts her two strokes back of the four leaders after day one. She is in a tie for seventh place. Robin Cook (Auburn), Valerie Leuhrs (Memphis), Angela Stanford (TCU), and Saliman Mussani (Texas) all finished the day with rounds of 70 to lead the 111 player field.
Freshman Marta Prieto (Sevilla, Spain) was the Deacs second best player on Friday with a round of 75. The three remaining Deacons, Nicole Stillig, Kelly Kirwin, and Stefanie Reynolds all had rounds of 81.
Tournament play will continue on Saturday and conclude on Sunday.
