Women's Golf Falls Five Spots in Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - On a day when scores dropped at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Women's Championships, the Wake Forest women's golf team was unable to improve on its first day total and fell five spots in the team standings to 12th after 36 holes of play. The 54 hole event is being contested at the 5,985-yard, par 72 layout of the Gettysvue Polo, Golf & Country Club in Knoxville, TN.

The Demon Deacons' recorded a team round of 312 on the second day of play to stand at 311-312=623 and are 33 shots off the pace of team leader Tulsa at 301-289=590. Stacy Prammanasudh of Tulsa shot a two-under-par round of 70 on Saturday to stand at 74-70=144 and is the individual leader after two rounds of play.

The leading Deacon individual in the field is sophomore Marta Prieto (Sevilla, Spain) who is one of five players tied for 22nd place after she carded a one-over-par 73 on the second day of play to stand at 79-74=153. Following Prieto in the individual standings are junior Kelly Kirwin (Grand Rapids, MN) at 77-79=156 and freshman Kate Brenny (Little Falls, MN) at 76-80=156, both of whom are among seven players tied at 12-over-par in 41st place. Rounding out the Deacon contingent in the field are senior Kristen Wagner (Martinsville, IN) at 79-82=161 who is alone in 60th place and freshman Camille Lee (Orlando, FL) who is tied for 73rd place at 87-80=167.

The Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships conclude tomorrow with the third and final round of play.
